Hello all,

The title pretty much says it all; I found myself in Denver, CO with a terrifying addiction to methamphetamine. I've had the entrepreneurial bug all of my life along with this monkey on my back.

I find myself in an interesting situation now considering:

  • I am 85 days sober.

  • Denver is a goldmine right now; absolutely every industry is thriving!

  • Businesses here have big money at hand for advertising; the explosive growth here is affecting everyone.

  • My living expenses are very minimal; I am at a sober living arrangement and I can devote some real time and resources to building a business in the best economy that I have ever seen.

I am thirty-four years old and I've been trying to quit drugs and alcohol for good for the last seven years.

I think I've finally gotten a handle on it here in Denver.

I started this blog for a few reasons: as a daily journal (which I believe helps me stay sober), motivation (I will post my goals and intentions; I think it will give me some accountability in the sense of actually following through), to record my success (Denver has to be the easiest place to start a thriving business considering the economy in its current state, or, as a cautionary tale.

I know there is a chance that I may start using again; it's just how it goes. Most people don't  recover from an addiction like mine. I have committed to at least one post a day. My situation may go anywhere accross the spectrum: I could relapse and go back to meth and heroin (with no chance of a normal life), I may decide to play it safe after all as far as work goes (maybe work in a call-center for $12 an hour with the intention of working my way up), or:

One of the business ideas that I have had for a long time, however, never being able to implement because of my drug habit will take off here in Denver and rock my world.

Thanks for reading so far, please feel free to comment or tell your story about beating addiction or homelessness. If no one ever reads these pages this blog will still serve me well as a journal.

I really hope it grows into something more; I have met many addicts that are of above average intelligence and would have the capability to make very visible and tangible achievements if only they could put down the straw, pipe, or needle.

I like to think of myself as being of this camp.

Also, you may see some advertising of some sort (I have long thought about blogging for a source of income), however, I will not promote my business ideas here or sell anything whatsoever.

I'm off to write my first post outlining my plans for Monday Feb, 2 2015.

Please feel free to reach out to me any time; I'd love to hear your story. That said, feel free to comment and share some of yourself here.

Sincerely,

Dave D
